ho ancora problemi col famigerato lcp down...

avevo installato l'utlimo firmware della netgear senza risultati...
ho installato un firmware  non ufficiale (V1.02.09 - DGTeam Rev. 0743) che mi da più controllo sui parametri di connessione...

ma...

continuo ad avere questi problemi:

Sat, 2000-01-01 02:00:37 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Sat, 2000-01-01 02:00:39 - CHAP authentication success
Sat, 2000-01-01 02:00:45 - Send out NTP request to 150.145.55.6
Sat, 2000-01-01 02:01:44 - Update OK: good
Sat, 2000-01-01 02:02:07 - Send out NTP request to time-g.netgear.com
Mon, 2008-03-24 12:35:04 - Receive NTP Reply from time-g.netgear.com
Mon, 2008-03-24 12:44:56 - LCP down.
Mon, 2008-03-24 12:45:57 - Administrator login successful - IP:192.168.x.x

che comportano il riavvio del router per ottenere la connessione funzionante...

pensavo fosse un problema del router netgear...

ho studiato i sorgenti del firmware in questione e di quello ufficiale...

ho studiato il protocollo ppp e lcp...

ho scambiato mio router con un amico che ha lostesso modello ma fornitore adsl diverso (alice telecom)... risultato a lui il mio router funziona il suo router a me non funziona...

non sono venuto a capo di niente

un utente tiscali uk aveva gli stessi problemi, il topic è lungo ed è in inglese, ma nel punto un cui zephyr750 dice:

While my physical layer was still up I found diagnostics pointing towards failures in the PPP link layer. More specifially pointing to a couple of apparent undesirable behaviours from your end of the link. Both these behaviours are in the area of interaction of adaption layer and link layer as outlined in RFC2364.

1) Behaviour 1: PPP connection being forced down by your Peer.
This would cause a users router to report something akin to LCP down. Specific diag messages in the attached file would be.
'LCP down'
'PPP fail : Peer terminate'
'PPPD Terminated Through Signal Connection terminated'

2) Behaviour 2: Following behaviour 1, lack of repsonse causes timeout at user router.
This might cause several different symptoms for the user. This may include apparent CHAPS failure or a cycling of "LCP is allowed to come up/Initialize LCP" in the case of a netgear router. other diag messages could be:-
'PPP fail : Timeout in LCP negotiation'
'LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests'

mi trova decisamente concorde con le sue posizioni...

il messaggio LCP down nel firmware netgear stanto a quanto dice wikipedia indica che :

The LCP protocol:

• checks the identity of the linked device and either accepts or rejects the peer device
• determines the acceptable packet size for transmission
• searches for errors in configuration
• can terminate the link if requirements exceed the parameters

okkei vorrei conoscere quali sono i parametri... apro un ticket e vi faccio sapere...

se non dovesse andare bene scriverò un tool che riavvia il router in automatico appena rileva un mancanza di collegamento internet...
